YORK, Pa. - The York women's soccer win streak extends to four-straight following a 1-0 victory over DeSales in a MAC crossover contest Wednesday night at Graham Field. Ashlynn Weger netted the game's lone goal on a corner kick in the 80th minute with Jenna Cholowinski picking up the assist.

Team Records
DeSales 7-2-0
York 6-3-0

How It Happened
  • DeSales had the first quality chance of the game in the 23rd minute when Meghan Corbran dribbled into the right side of the box and passed left to Darian Brickhouse who unloaded a rocket just inches over the crossbar.
  • Corbran got involved in the action again for DeSales in the 26th minute. The Bulldog once again dribbled into the right side of the box and slipped a shot between defenders, but Cat McCarty made a sliding foot save to keep the game knotted at zero.
  • McCarty made another key save for the Sparatans in the 36th minute when a long cross was skimmed off the head of DSU's Meghan Foley, but McCarty was there to make a sprawling save to her left.
  • The chances piled up for York in the 40th minute with a trio of corners. On the final corner, Erin Snyder managed to get a solid strike with her head to send the ball towards the left corner of the net, but Hannah Pacheco got just enough to turn away Snyder's attempt.
  • Corbran had a pair of good looks for DeSales early in the second half, beginning with a shot from approximately 24 yards out that sailed inches over the crossbar. Corbran again had a clean look on goal from closer to 30 yards out, but her shot curled into the waiting arms of McCarty.
  • The Spartans received a break when Alyssa Russell was taken down by a DeSales defender just outside the 18-yard line in the 62nd minute. Caitlyn Findlay took the free kick from 19-yards out and put it on target, but Pacheco was there to make the save for the Bulldogs.
  • In the 76th minute, York swept up the field and Anna Morton carried the ball up the left side. Once inside the 18-yard line, Morton unleashed a seed that was initially mishandled by Pacheco on a sprawling save, but the Bulldog keeper quickly recovered to secure the loose ball.
  • The field started to tilt in York's favor and the Spartans capitalized on the momentum shift in the 80th minute on a corner kick. Jenna Cholowinski served a pass from right to left and found Ashlynn Weger waiting on the backside to head it past the diving Pacheco.
  • On the ensuing DeSales possession following the goal, DSU's Elizabeth McCarthy unleashed a bullet from nearly 30 yards that forced McCarty to make a spectacular jump save. McCarty would go on to make one final save in the 89th minute to put a cap on the shutout victory.
