CHESTER, PA – The York College women's track and field team had a strong showing on Friday as they moved into third place after day two of the 2021 MAC Championships in Chester, PA.
The Spartans have accumulated 37 points as they trail second place Misericordia by a mere point. Messiah sits comfortably in first with 54 points. Alvernia (35 points) is fourth while Widener (31 points) rounds out the top five teams.
The Spartans had a pair of top eight finishes on Friday. Hayden Divers finished second in the discus as she posted a best throw of 36.92 meters.
Danielle Andrews recorded a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase as she crossed the line in a time of 12:29.58. Andrew's time was a new PR as it was over 12 seconds better than her previous career best.
Junior Erin Brown finished eighth in the women's heptathlon with 2,435 points.
Sophomore Julia Pena won the preliminaries of the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.99. That time set a new PR for the sophomore standout. She will race in the finals on Saturday.
