CHESTER, PA – The York College women's track & field squad opened up their first Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet on Thursday night in Chester, PA.
The Spartans sit in fourth place behind three teams that are tied for first. Widener, Misericordia, and Lebanon Valley all have 19 points while the Spartans have 17 points. DeSales is fifth with 14 points.
York had a strong showing in the 10,000 as three Spartans finished in the top seven to score for the Green and White. Amber Strouse placed fourth in the 10K with a time of 38:29.14. That time shattered her previous PR by almost a minute and a half. Abby Sykes placed sixth with a time of 38:51.10 as she bested her PR by over a minute and 40 seconds. Jordan Haberstroh was the third Spartan to score in the 10K as she finished seventh with a time of 39:04.92. That set a new PR by just under four seconds.
Lucy Delker posted a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw as she recorded a best distance of 41.23 meters. That set a new PR for the senior thrower.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Nicole Wasserleben, Erin Brown, Sarah Skane, and Cassie Koziolek combined to record a time of 10:05.50, good for a sixth-place finish. That time took almost 15 seconds off the previous season best time for the relay team.
