YORK, Pa. - York Wrestling had a trio of place winners and captured eighth place in the 12-team field with 57.5 points at the 12th Annual New Standard Invitational on Saturday.

Eric Hutchinson was York's lone finalist as he captured second place at 165 lbs. Camden Farrow placed fourth at 197 and #14 Jared Bair ended his tournament run with a victory in the fifth-place bout at 149 lbs.

Three Place Winners
  • Jared Bair followed up his victory on Friday night with three more on Saturday to finish the weekend 4-2 and won his last match to capture fifth place at 149. Bair had a tough start to the day as he lost, 7-5, in sudden victory to Nic Zamaloff (W&L) in the quarterfinals and saw his 11-match win streak come to an end. Bair rebounded with an 8-2 victory over teammate Nick Paolucci in which he scored a trio of takedowns against his fellow Spartan. Bair then went on to dominate Marquis Larmond (Brockport) with an 18-6 major decision in the consolation quarterfinals. Following a 9-2 setback to Matt Beyer (Ithaca) in the consolation semifinals, Bair landed in the fifth-place bout where he racked up four takedowns on his way to a 13-6 victory over Austin Manning (USMMA).
  • Eric Hutchinson built off his season-opening win on Friday with two more victories on Saturday to finish the weekend 3-1 and came away with second place at 165. The Spartan grad student began the day with a pair of takedowns and a reversal in a convincing 10-5 win over Joe Salerno (W&L) in the quarterfinals. Hutchinson then finished with back-to-back bouts against national-ranked opponents. First up was a semifinal round matchup with #13 Alex Turley (Averett). Hutchinson came from behind in the third period and scored a takedown with 21 seconds left to force the match into extra time. Hutchinson went to score another takedown early in overtime to win, 7-5, and advance to the title bout where he found himself matched up with #2 Dominic Reyes (Hopkins). Reyes built an early lead and protected the rest of the way as Hutchinson fell, 10-4, in the 165-pound final.
  • Camden Farrow posted two more wins on Saturday to finish the weekend 3-2 and captured fourth place at 197. Farrow began the day with five takedowns in a dominant 12-4 victory over Jamar Christian (Averett) to punch his ticket to the semifinals. In the semis, Farrow drew a matchup with fellow MAC competitor #7 Michael Dooley (Stevens). The two wrestlers were tied, 2-2, heading into the third period when Dooley escaped from bottom and then scored the eventual match-winning takedown with 1:18 left as he went on to win, 6-3. After surrendering a takedown early in his consolation semifinal match with John Sedovy (W&L), Farrow responded with a reversal which he then parlayed into a fall with 1:17 left in the first period. In the third-place match, Farrow racked up three escapes, but was unable to get to his offense as he came up short, 5-3, to Dylan Harr (JWU).

Other Top-Eight Performers
  • Jared Kuhns followed up his Friday night victory with a 1-2 performance on Saturday to finish the weekend 2-2 at 125. Kuhns surrendered a takedown and a tilt early in his quarterfinal bout with Bruno Alves (Apprentice) and was forced to battle from behind the rest of the way. The Spartan senior went on to score two takedowns and two near fall points, but it was not enough as the early deficit eventually proved costly in a 12-9 defeat. Kuhns got back to business and scored three takedowns in a convincing 8-1 victory over Matt Haycook (Ithaca) to advance to the consolation quarterfinals. Kuhns drew a tough matchup in the consi quarterfinals as #1 Matt Caccamise fell out of the championship bracket. Caccamise scored the first takedown of the match, but Kuhns fought back to tie the bout, 2-2, late in the second period. However, Caccamise scored a takedown with 28 seconds left and took a 4-3 lead into the third. Kuhns was unable to get to his offense and was shutout in the third as Caccamise ended Kuhn's tournament with a 6-3 decision.
  • TJ Quelet battled back from a Friday night loss to fifth-ranked Ryan DeVivo (JWU) with a pair of victories on Saturday to finish with a 2-2 record at 184. Quelet received a forfeit from Zion Carpenter (Averett) in his first scheduled match of the day. Quelet then stepped on the mat for real against Luke Gauthier (USMMA) and posted three takedowns on his way to a 7-1 victory. Quelet closed out his day in the consolation quarterfinals against Joe Daddario (TCNJ) with a fall at 2:18.
