WESTMINSTER, MD – The York College women's basketball team took to the road for the first time this year and are returning home with their first road victory of the year. The Spartans downed McDaniel in Westminster 59-50 on Thursday night as they have won three straight.
The Spartans placed four players in double figures led by
Savannah Wilson's game-high 17 points.

How It Happened
• The teams were back and forth in the opening quarter. The game was tied at 10 with 2:34 left in the opening frame. The Green Terror outscored York 6-3 the rest of the way to take a three point lead after one quarter of play. York had five first quarter turnovers as they were just 3-for-11 from the floor. York stayed in the game at the free throw line, converting 7-of-8 first quarter attempts at the charity stripe.
• The second quarter was the biggest period of the game for the Green and White. The Green Terror got the first bucket of the quarter but York answered with a prolonged 18-5 run that covered the final 7:50 of the quarter. The run was kickstarted by a pair of
Savannah Wilson three pointers that put York up 19-18. York shot 8-for-15 from the floor in the second quarter including York's only two three-point field goals. York also had just three turnovers in the frame.
• In the third quarter, the Spartans built their lead to a game high 15 points (41-26) on a
Bradi Zumbrum lay-up with 6:16 remaining in the period. From that point on, it was all Green Terror in the quarter as they ended the period on a 12-4 run as York's lead was trimmed to 45-38 heading to the fourth.
• The Green and White pushed the lead back up to ten at 51-41 with 7:49 left in the game. McDaniel ripped off seven straight points, trimming York's advantage to three at 51-48. The two teams traded buckets before Zumbrum hit a pair of clutch free throws with 1:32 left in the game to put York up 55-50. York got a pair of stops and then got two Wilson free throws with 36 seconds left to put York up seven. Another stop and a fast break lay-up from
Cassidy Arnold gave York their final margin of victory.

The Spartans remain on the road on Tuesday when they head to Lancaster Bible to face the Chargers in a non-conference contest. Tip time is set for 5:00 as the game will be the first of a York/Lancaster Bible men's and women's doubleheader.
