READING, PA – The York College field hockey team got back on the winning side of the ledger as they downed Albright College 3-1 in MAC Commonwealth action on Saturday in Reading. The Spartans have now won three of their four Commonwealth contests.

Score: York 3, Albright 1
Records: York 9-3 (3-1 MACC), Albright 3-7 (1-3 MACC)
Â
How It Happened
• The first half was limited offensively as each team had a mere one shot. Fortunately for York, their shot found the back of the cage. With 3:39 left in the quarter,
Reese Hardman sent a pass to
Libby Wild on the circle and the freshman drilled home a shot for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Wild's third of the year.
• The outshot the Lions 4-0 in the second period but Albright goalie Adele Thomas made three saves to keep the game a one-goal contest at the break.
• The Spartans added to the lead early in the third period as an early barrage eventually led to a goal just over three minutes into the quarter.
Maycee Collison fired a shot that Thomas saved but
Maggie Spadafora collected the rebound and made a nifty backhanded flip shot to give York a 2-0 lead. The goal was Spadafora's fifth of the year.
• The Green and White tacked on a third goal in the fourth period as
Hannah Huffman found a loose ball on her stick in front of the cage. Huffman is no stranger to that situation as she finished off the chance for her team-leading ninth goal of the year.
• The Lions broke up the shutout on a penalty stroke goal with 1:08 left in regulation as Lamya Mejias finished off the opportunity to get the Lions on the board.
