• The Mustangs opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the game as the Spartans were whistled for an infraction inside the circle, giving Stevenson a penalty stroke. Carolyn Braziel converted the opportunity inside the right post for her second goal of the year.
• The Spartans wasted no time in getting back into the game as
Hannah Huffman tallied her tenth goal of the year a mere 28 seconds after Braziel's penalty stroke goal.
Sara Pique collected a loose ball and carried it towards the circle where she found
Maggie Spadafora in the middle of the circle. Spadafora lifted a high pass towards the left post that Huffman batted out of the air and into the goal, tying the game at one.
• York made it 2-1 55 seconds into the second quarter.
Riley Buschert carried the ball to the end line where she fed a pass to
Sam Collis. Collis banged a shot off the right post that redirected right to the stick of Huffman who calmly banged home the carom for her second goal of the game and 11
th of the season.
• York continued to pressure the Stevenson defense but goalie Rachel Barker stood tall in keeping the Spartans from extending their lead before the half. The Spartans outshot the Mustangs 11-1 in the first half while they also held a commanding 11-2 margin in penalty corners in the first 30 minutes of play.
• The Spartans continued to attack the Stevenson offense in the third quarter but couldn't take advantage of any of their seven penalty corners during the period.
• The Green and White closed out the scoring in 51
st minute. Buschert took a pass from Pique on the right wing. She dribbled toward the circle and sent a pass into Spadafora. The Spartan freshman drove the end line and slipped a pass across the goal mouth to
Sarah Burton who finished off the pass for her second goal of the year. The assist for Spadafora was her team-leading fourth of the year.
