Rochester 5-11
York 11-4

How It Happened
  • Set one played out fairly evenly until York turned a 16-15 lead into a 23-17 lead. Rochester would go on to score the next four points to cut the deficit to two points, but a kill by Sydney Wilber and a Rochester attack error sealed the set for York. Abby Diehl led all players with a staggering seven kills in the first set to go along with seven assists.
  • With the second set tied, 1-1, York would go on to score the next 13 points to take a 14-1 advantage. Claire Shorb did the serving during that run and tallied a trio of service aces. Megan Rizzi and Tyler Williams each had three kills in the set to lead the Spartans, while Diehl compiled seven more assists. Rochester hit -.091 in the set with just three kills on 22 total attacks.
  • York seemed to be running away towards victory in the third set, leading 22-13, but Rochester put together a sudden eight-point run to cut the deficit to one (22-21). A pair of service errors and an attack error by the Yellow Jackets would ultimately seal the set and the match for York.
Up Next
The Spartans remain in Selinsgrove for a pair of matches on Saturday. York opens the day against host Susquehanna at 11 a.m. and finishes the weekend with a MAC crossover match against Stevens at 3 p.m.
