YORK, PA – The York College field hockey team had their two-game win streak snapped by a familiar foe as #15 Salisbury University downed the Spartans 2-0 at Kinsley Field on Wednesday evening. It's the first home loss for the Spartans who entered the game 6-0 at home.

How It Happened
• The two teams were back and forth in the opening 15 minutes of play. The Gulls held a 3-1 advantage in shots and in penalty corners but were unable to score.
• The Gulls finally found the back of the cage in the 24
th minute of the game. The Gulls earned a penalty corner and in the ensuing play, Allie Davis sent a shot towards the cage that Maci Long re-directed past Spartan netminder
Kaitlyn Wallace for her first goal of the year.
• Salisbury outshot York 4-3 in the opening half while they also held a 5-3 margin in penalty corners.
• The Gulls added to their lead early in the third off another corner. Long fired a shot that was saved by Wallace but she couldn't control the rebound. The ball bounded to the stick of McKenzie Jamison who poked home the loose ball for her fifth goal of the year.
• The Spartans had opportunities to get on the board in the fourth quarter as they fired off six shots as Salisbury goalie Dom Ferrace registered five saves in the quarter, preserving Salisbury's third straight shutout.

The Spartans had their home defensive scoreless streak snapped at 174:12 with the first Salisbury goal … York has surrendered just four goals at home in 2021 … York is now 6-1 at Kinsley Field this year … the Spartans were shutout for the first time this year … Salisbury was the last team to shutout York on November 6, 2019 in Salisbury.
