Team Records
York 15-7
#10 Juniata 21-1

How It Happened
  • The Spartans came up short in a tightly-contested opening set as the Eagles prevailed, 25-23. York looked strong out of the gates and racked up an eight-point lead (11-3) led by four kills by Tyler Williams. The Eagles gained traction and compiled eight kills to take their first lead of the match at 18-17. York kept fighting all the way to the end as the set was tied 23-23, but Juniata claimed the next two points to earn the comeback win. Williams led the Spartans with five kills on a .346 attack percentage in the first set and Jasmine Doguin led all players with seven digs.
  • The Spartans held a 4-3 lead to open the second set, but the lead was short lived as Juniata ripped off five-straight points, aided by three service aces, to take an 8-4 lead. The Spartans got one point back, but two more Juniata aces capped an 8-1 run as the Eagles jumped out to an 11-5 lead. York struggled to gain traction and string together points the rest of the way as Juniata ran away with a 25-12 victory.
  • Juniata broke a 6-6 tie with a 9-1 run to take an eight-point lead in the third set. The Spartans did not go away quietly as they cut the deficit in half with a pair of service aces and kills by Claire Shorb and Williams. York traded points all the way to the end, but could not put together a run at the lead as Juniata held on to win, 25-20.

York 15-8
Carnegie Mellon 10-10

How It Happened
  • Claire Shorb notched two of York's four kills on their way to an opening 7-3 lead over Carnegie Mellon in the first set. The Tartans came storming back with seven unanswered points to take their first lead of the set, 10-7. The two teams traded blows until CMU ripped off eight-straight points to take a commanding 22-11 lead and cruise to an eventual 25-15 victory.
  • The Tartans used a 7-1 run to take a 9-4 lead early in set two. York answered back with a four-point run to cut the deficit to one (9-8) as Jennifer Taylor led the way with a kill and a pair of block assists. The two sides traded points until York pulled even at 17-17 with Shorb leading the way with four kills. CMU broke the tie with a four-point run and scored four of the final six points of the set as the Tartans took set two, 25-19.
  • York fought back from an early deficit to tie the third set, 6-6, and then jumped out to a 12-8 lead. The Spartans maintained their lead deep into the set until a five-point Tartan run put CMU ahead, 19-16. A Briyana Shepard kill knotted the set, 19-19, but CMU ripped off four-straight points to move ahead, 23-19. Back-to-back attack errors kept York within striking distance, but a Spartan service error followed by a CMU ace sealed the set and the match for the Tartans as they took the third set, 25-21.
