HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The York volleyball team closed out its stint at the Wid Guisler Invitational with a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Wesleyan on Saturday. Megan Rizzi paced the Spartans with a career-high 20 kills and earned all-tournament team honors as York knocked off the Cardinals who were voted the 26th-best team in the nation in this week's poll.

How It Happened

The Spartans rebounded from an opening 25-13 opening set loss and edged Wesleyan, 25-23, in the second. York built a seven-point lead (13-6) to begin the second set following a string of Cardinal miscues. Wesleyan regained its footing and the two sides traded points until the set became tied, 23-23. Jennifer Taylor scored the go ahead kill and an attack error by Wesleyan sealed the set for York.
The Spartans broke open some breathing room in the third set when back-to-back service aces by Claire Shorb and a kill by Megan Rizzi gave York a 15-8 advantage. The Spartans continued to build on their lead and kills by Abby Diehl, Shorb and Tyler Williams down the stretch sealed the 25-14 victory in the third.
A 10-7 Spartan lead in the fourth set forced a Wesleyan timeout and out of the break, York went on to score eight of the next 10 points to move ahead, 18-9. Four different Spartans recorded kills down the stretch as York rode the momentum to a 25-18 victory in the fourth and complete the comeback win over nationally-touted Cardinals.
