How It Happened
• Much like Wednesday night's game against Juniata, the Spartans struck early as junior Hannah Huffman chipped in a shot off a rebound to give York the 1-0 lead a mere 1:50 into the game. Huffman had a hand in York's second goal in the third minute of the game. Riley Buschert inserted a penalty corner to Huffman. Huffman drove a shot that Buschert tipped in for the 2-0 York lead. The big first quarter continued as Carrie Shuey was persistent as she was on the doorstep with the ball. She fired off two shots that were saved put poked home the third attempt for the goal as York went up 3-0 with just over five minutes left in the first quarter.
• The second quarter lacked the first quarter fireworks but York continued to control the game. York went to the half with a 10-2 edge in total shots and a 5-0 advantage in penalty corners.
• The Spartan offense got back on track just 49 second into the third quarter as Buschert and Huffman hooked up again on an almost identical play to their goal in the third minute. Buschert again inserted on the corner up to Huffman. The junior then sent the ball toward the goal with velocity. Buschert redirected the ball for her second goal of the game. York scored a fifth goal seven minutes later as Saturday's dynamic duo combined for a fourth goal. This time Buschert inserted the corner and Huffman hit a rocket into the back of the cage for her second goal of the day and her eighth of the year.
• The Spartans closed out the scoring in the 58th minute of play. Libby Wild lifted a pass towards the right post. Rachel Della batted the ball out of the air into the back of the cage for York's sixth goal of the year. The goal was Della's third of the year.
