Spartans Clipped in OT at LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the second-straight Saturday the York men's soccer team ended up on the wrong side of golden goal as the Spartans fell, 3-2, in overtime in a MAC Commonwealth tilt at Lebanon Valley. The Spartans have now lost back-to-back conference road games in overtime, falling to Alvernia in the 99th minute on Oct. 9 and again to LVC in the 98th minute of play earlier today.

Team Records
York 3-7-3 (1-3 MACC)
Lebanon Valley 10-3-0 (3-2-0 MACC)

How It Happened
  • York put a pair of shots on target in the first seven minutes of play as they found the back of the net with the second as Luke Nall set up Mitchell Seipt for the game's first tally.
  • The Spartans weathered a barrage of Dutchmen shots in a span of four minutes as the pressure mounted. LVC's momentum eventually resulted in a penalty kick after a foul inside the box in the 17th minute. Peter Forester converted the kick for the Dutchmen to tie the score, 1-1.
  • Keegan Brade made a pair of saves on the ensuing possessions after the PK and made another later in the 34th minute.
  • With the game still tied late in the opening half, the Spartans capitalized on the opportunity to regain the lead heading into the break. Jack Mitzelfelt seized the moment as he netted the go-ahead tally in the 38th minute after receiving a helper from Brandon Holy.
  • That Spartan lead would hold for the next 48 minutes as the clock ticked closer to the end of regulation. Unfortunately, York could not get to the end and still maintain the lead as the Dutchmen delivered a gut punch by scoring the equalizer in the 87th minute.
  • LVC racked up a 3-0 shot advantage to begin the overtime period before tallying a goal on the fourth shot with less than two minutes to go in the period.
