YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer squad had their two game win streak snapped by Albright as the Lions blanked York 2-0 on Wednesday night at Graham Field.
It's the Spartans' first loss of the year to a non-regionally ranked squad.

How It Happened
• The Spartans had the better of the play early in the game as they fired off the first three shots of the game. The Lions had a great chance from Autumn Bieber as she struck a long shot from outside the box that
Cat McCarty saved to keep the game scoreless.
• The Lions were awarded a penalty shot on with just over 12 minutes left in the first half. Diza Hasanaj drilled the shot inside the left post to the right of a diving McCarty as Albright took the lead.
• The Spartans out shot the Lions 7-3 in the first half while they also held a slight 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
• The Green and White had chances early in the second half but wouldn't be able to get the equalizer. The Lions got a huge insurance goal with just over 19 minutes left in regulation. Alexis Baez slipped a pass into the box where Bieber collected the ball and slotted a shot inside the far left post to give Albright the 2-0 lead.
• York had a few more opportunities in the final 15 minutes but the 2-0 lead proved to be too much for the Spartans to overcome.

Spartan Notes
The meeting was the first between the two programs though the Spartans did play a tournament at Albright on August 30 and 31, 2014 but did not face the host Lions en route to the tournament championship … the shutout loss was the fourth of the year for the Spartans with all four coming at home … in fact, six of the seven games at Graham Field this year have resulted in a shutout for the victors, the lone exception being York's 2-1 win over Rowan last week … York is 3-4 at home this year … the loss was the first for York when they recorded more shots than their opponents in a game … the match featured a season-low four combined corner kicks as York had the edge 3-1 in that category … York allowed multiple goals for just the third time this season.
