YORK, PA – The York College volleyball squad saw their regular season come to an end with their fifth straight loss as the Spartans dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday night in York.

How It Happened

• The first set was back and forth early with neither team holding more than a three-point lead through the first 27 points of the set. The set was tied at 12 and that's when the Eagles started to take control. Mary Washington went on an 8-1 run to take a 20-13 lead. The Eagles eventually grew the lead to eight before settling for the 25-18 set one win.

• The Eagles pulled out to an early four-point lead in set two. The Spartans kept them within striking distance but UMW smacked the Spartans with an 8-0 run that turned a close set into a 23-11 lead. The Eagles closed out the set 25-14 as they led 2-0.

• The third set saw UMW hold a 10-5 lead. The Eagles scored six of the next 10 points for the 16-10 lead. York cut the lead to four twice but Mary Washington pulled away and notched the 25-17 set three win, closing out York's regular season.
