ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College volleyball squad picked up their first Capital Athletic Conference win of the year as they blanked St. Mary's College 3-0 on Wednesday evening in St. Mary's City, Maryland. The Spartans have now won four straight and six of their last seven.

How It Happened

• The Spartans seized control of the first set early as they raced out to a 12-2 lead. York eventually pushed the lead to 22-6 before settling for the 25-16 win.

• York again jumped out in front in the second set as they scored 12 of the first 15 points of the set. York led 18-10 but the Seahawks scored seven of the next nine points of the set, cutting York's lead to 20-17. Abby Diehl recorded a kill to slow the run but St. Mary's ripped off the next four points in a row to tie the set at 21. Another Diehl kill followed by a Kierstin Grove service ace gave York a 23-21 lead. The Seahawks got the next point but York closed out the set with kills from Sydney Wilber and Healani Markham to earn the 25-22 win.

• The third set was much closer at the start. There were three ties in the first 12 points. The Seahawks went on a quick 5-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. The Spartans would come back and tie the set at 15. That tie came in the middle of a 9-1 run that gave York an 21-16 lead. St. Mary's cut the Spartan lead to 24-21 before Wilber closed out the match with a kill, giving York the 3-0 win.
