How It Happened:
• The Spartans hit the Mustangs early as they garnered two goals in the opening 4:35 of the game. York earned a penalty corner 3:15 into the game. Sophomore Julea Truskey inserted the ball to Greta Plappert who hammered home a long shot from the top of the circle, giving York the 1-0 lead a mere 3:19 into the game.
• York made it 2-0 just moments later as York earned another penalty corner. This time Lindsay Nye fired a shot on goal. That attempt was cleared off the line by Stevenson's Jordan Hershberger but Sam Collis was on the spot to clean up the loose ball as she poked home the chance to put York up 2-0 4:41 into the game.
• York made it 3-0 in the game's 16th minute as Plappert took a pass from Truskey on the corner, drove into the circle and dished off to an open Dana Meehling who one-timed a shot into the cage for the goal, her second goal of the year.
• The Mustangs slowed the Spartans' roll in the 23rd minute as the Spartans were called for an infraction in the circle that allowed Stevenson a penalty stroke. Gracyn Colborn finished the stroke to get the Mustangs on the board.
• With the mustangs threatening on a breakaway with just over six and half minutes left in the first half, Sam Keating thwarted a break away with a diving challenge that kept Stevenson from doing any more damage. Keating was forced to make a similar play just over a minute and a half later as this time she stoned Sara McVey on the breakaway, keeping the Mustangs at one heading to the half.
• The Spartans had some early chances in the second half as they totaled five penalty corners in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. York was unable to convert any of those chances as they held on to the two goal lead. The Mustangs started the push the issue in their offensive end late in the game. Stevenson garnered eight penalty corners over an 11-minute stretch in the second half.
• Stevenson finally made one of their penalty corners with 8:32 left. The Mustangs threw a shot on goal that was turned away by Keating but the rebound came right to the stick of Colborn who had an easy finish into the left side of the goal as Stevenson trimmed their deficit to one.
• The Spartans had a great chance with 3:35 left as Paige Taylor had a one-on-one with a defender only to have the shot turned away as York couldn't get that key insurance goal.
• The Mustangs had a shot to tie the game with five seconds left but the attempt went just wide of the cage as the Spartans hung on to win.
