Box Score YORK, PA – The York College men's basketball team dropped a tightly contested Capital Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday night as the Saints downed York 70-64. The Spartans have dropped two straight while Marymount has won three of their last four.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• The first half was tightly played as neither team held more than a four-point lead in the opening 20 minutes of play. The Spartans led 15-11 just over six minutes into the game. The Saints responded with a 7-0 spurt to take a three-point lead. The game would be tied four times over the next nine minutes with the final first half tie coming at 31. Blayde Reich hit a pair of free throws and Darin Gordon drilled a three to give the Spartans a 35-31 lead at the break. Overall, there were eight ties and five lead changes in the first half.
• York got off to a good start in the second half as the Spartans held a 39-34 lead on a Reich lay up 2:31 into the second half. Marymount went on a 7-2 run, tying the game at 41 on a Michael Anderson lay up with 14:11 left in the game.
• The game would be tied again at 45 as freshman Kevin Callahan drilled a three from the right wing as the game was dead even with 10:51 left in the game. The Spartans then went dry from the field as the Saints held them scoreless over the next three minutes while Marymount scored eight points to take a 55-47 lead with 7:07 left in the game.
• York cut the lead to four on a pair of Mike Frauenheim free throws with 3:24 left. The Saints immediately answered with a pair of Taiga Walker free throws and a Dimitri Rucker bucket with 2:36 left. Matt Scamuffo trimmed York's deficit to five on a corner three six seconds later as the Green and White tried to claw their way back into the game.
• Marymount split a pair of free throws and Zack Galic hit a lay up off an inbounds pass, cutting York's deficit to four with 1:39 left. Rucker then nailed a clutch jumper from above the free throw line as the shot clock was under three seconds, pushing the Marymount lead back at six.
• Scamuffo hit another three on York's next possession. After York fouled Alex Danko and he hit a pair of free throws, Galic drained a three with 39 seconds left to draw York to within two at 66-64 as the momentum seemed to be sliding over to the Spartans.
• That momentum was short lived as Anderson nailed a pair of free throws to push the lead back to four. The Spartans committed a turnover on their ensuing possession, forcing York to foul with 23 seconds left. Walker split a pair of free throws to give MU at 69-64 lead with 23 seconds left. York committed another turnover on their next possession to essentially end the game.

The Saints have edged in front of the Spartans in the all-time series 32-31 as Marymount has won eight straight in the series … York is now 3-2 at home and 1-2 at home in league play … the loss is the first for the Spartans when they have held a halftime lead as York is now 5-1 with the halftime advantage … the Saints went to the line a whooping 40 times as they converted 24 (60%) … the Saints had a 14 points advantage at the free throw line as York was 10-for-18 from the stripe … York was called for 27 fouls as two Spartans fouled out ... the 40 free throw attempts are the most against the Spartans since the 2014-15 season … York has been outrebounded in five of their last six games … York forced 17 turnovers which they turned into 17 points … York's 10 three pointers tied the Spartans' season high (10-for-28 vs. Stevenson on Dec. 20) … the Spartans have now shot below 42% from the floor in each of their last six games … York's 55.6% free throw mark is their second-lowest mark of the season (9-for-17 vs. Wesley on Dec. 14) … York had a plus assist to turnover ratio for the fifth time this year … Zack Galic tallied a career-high 17 points as he was 8-for-10 from the floor including 1-for-1 from three … freshman Darin Gordon pulled in a career-high nine rebounds while he also had six points … Mike Frauenheim dished out six more assists as he has 13 assists and just one turnover in his last two games … freshman Kevin Callahan scored his first collegiate points on his second half three pointer.
