Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – The York College volleyball team opened up their 2016 season with a pair of wins during the opening day of the La Roche College Tip Off Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA. The Spartans downed Oberlin 3-1 in the opener before blanking host La Roche 3-0 in the nightcap.

The 2-0 start is the second in time in three years that the Spartans have won their first two matches … that start came on Friday of the 12th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational at Moravian as York beat Centenary 3-0 and Emmanuel (Mass.) 3-0 … York has started the season 2-0 in three of the last four years … Madyson Whitcomb finished with 20 combined kills in the first two matches of her collegiate career … Seven different Spartans made their collegiate debuts during Friday's action … York has not started a season 4-0 since York began the 2013 campaign with five straight wins.
What's Next:
The Spartans will square off against Chatham at 11:30 am and then closeout their trip to Pittsburgh when they face Hiram in a 1:00 pm contest. The matches will be their third and fourth as a part of their season-opening 10 match road trip.
