FREDERICK, MD  – The York College volleyball squad stayed red hot with a pair of wins at Hood College on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans knocked off Hood 3-1 in the opener and then continued their winning ways with a 3-0 victory in the nightcap, besting Rosemont College. The Spartans have now won nine straight.

The Spartans improve to 12-1, their best start since 2010 when the Spartans started the campaign with a mark of 22-1 en route to an overall record of 27-6 … the Spartans have won nine straight, their longest win streak since the Spartans won 21 straight in 2010 … the 54 kills in the win over Hood was the Spartans' highest kill total in a match this year, besting the 52 against Gettysburg last Wednesday … Nine of York's 12 wins have come in straight sets … York had a season-high 18 service aces in the win over Rosemont … York tied a season-low in service errors as they only made six bad serves against Rosemont … York hit .308 against Hood and .366 against Rosemont and that's the first time York has hit above .300 in back-to-back matches … York had 10 block assists in the win over Hood and that's the fifth time this year they have reached double figures in block assists.

York heads to Dickinson College on Wednesday night to face the Red Devils in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start. York will then head home to begin a season-high seven match home stand starting with a pair of matches Friday night in the opening round of the York College Spartan Invitational.
