ARLINGTON, VA – The York College volleyball squad concluded a rough weekend with a 3-1 road loss at Marymount University on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, Virginia.  

Match #23:

Marymount def. York 25-21, 16-25, 26-24, 25-23 (3-1)

Records: York 17-6 (1-3 CAC), Marymount 16-5 (3-0 CAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Spartans played another tight conference match in Arlington on Saturday. The first set saw the Saints run out to a 10-3 advantage. Marymount maintained a healthy lead throughout the set. York got to within four at 20-16. That's as close as York would get as Marymount earned a 25-21 set one win.

• The second set was close early as the game was tied at nine. The Spartans ripped off an 11-3 run to push out to a 20-12 lead. York would finish out a 25-16 game two win.

• The third set was again very tightly played. There were 13 ties throughout the set with the final tie coming at 24. Christine Tieman had a kill to put the Saints up 25-24 followed by a Spartan attack error to end game three.

• The Saints raced out to a quick 10-5 lead to take control of the set. York battled back with a 6-2 run to draw to within one at 12-11. The Saints maintained the lead as they would push ahead only to have York reel them back in. Marymount led 23-20 but York scored two straight to pull to within one at 23-22. Marymount scored two of the final three points to seize the victory for the Saints.

Saturday's Notes:

The Spartans have now lost two in a row, four of their last five and five of their last seven matches after their 16-2 start … four of York's five setbacks have come in four sets (3-1) … Sophomore Eryn Brady tied her career-high with 15 kills in the match … York played the game without sophomore outside hitter Brooke Krebs who was injured in pregame warm ups … The Spartans have played the last five games without starter Kerrie DeFelice as she has been injured … the Green and White are 1-4 without DeFelice in the lineup

What's Next:

The Spartans continue their road trip with a game at Elizabethtown College on Tuesday evening in Elizabethtown. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start. York will then start a three game home stand on Friday night when they host Southern Virginia in a CAC contest.
