HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first set saw the Spartans get off to a quick lead at 4-1. The Spartans maintained a lead until a 4-0 St. Mary's run tied the set at 17-all. The set would be tied six more times with the last tie coming at 23-23. The Seahawks got a service ace from Alli Graf followed by a kill from Graf to close out the 25-23 first set win.

• The Seahawks rode the momentum of the first set by jumping on York early in the second. The Seahawks raced out to a 7-2 lead. That lead stood at 9-5 when St. Mary's hit York with a 6-1 spurt to push the lead to 15-6. York eventually cut the St. Mary's advantage to 17-12 but the Hawks ended the set on an 8-1 run to finish off the lopsided set.

• The third set was a far more tightly contested game. The teams went back and forth as there were seven ties in the set. The final tie came at 16-16 on a Brooke Krebs kill. York scored four of the next five points to push out to a 20-17 lead. St. Mary's cut the Spartan lead to one three different times before a Madyson Whitcomb kill closed out the 25-23 win.

• The fourth set was very much like the first and third sets. With the set tied at 11, the Seahawks ripped off a 5-1 spurt to take a 16-12 lead. York scored the next two points to draw to within two but St. Mary's eventually pulled away to earn the six point set win.
