How It Happened:
• The Red Hawks jumped on the Spartans early as Kailey Dalgauer fed Camille Maimone on the left win. Maimone lofted a shot over Spartan keeper Eve Hauptle for the game's opening goal 9:10 into the game. The goal was Maimone's second goal of the year.
• The Red Hawks continued to apply pressure to the Spartan defense. That pressure nearly paid off in a second goal at the 14:05 mark but Kenidy Kubitz notched a defensive save to keep the lead at one.
• The Spartans tied the game up 2:33 before the half as senior Sydney LaMarsh slotted a shot from the top of the circle inside the right post for her third goal of the year.
• Montclair dominated the first half statistically as they outshot York 10-1 and also held a 4-0 bulge in penalty corners. York recorded six saves in the stanza to stay in the game.
• Montclair reclaimed the lead in the 53rd minute. Amber Haslett hit a bouncing feed from the middle of the circle. Kelly Watson collected the pass and finished it off inside the right post for the 2-1 Red Hawk lead. The goal was Watson's fourth of the year.
• The Spartans were much better in the second half as they spent a significant amount of time in Montclair's defensive third. That pressure finally paid off when Lindsay Nye threw a shot on cage that was saved. Junior Autumn Mallory was there to pick up the rebound and bang it home, tying the score at two with 5:49 left in regulation. The goal was Mallory's eighth of the year.
• The Spartans would get the last shot of regulation 1:17 later as Mallory got another shot on target but Kaitlyn Maguire would record the save to preserve the tie.
• The Spartans outshot Montclair 8-2 in the second half while they also held a 6-2 margin in penalty corners.
• Nye had a chance to win it 59 seconds into overtime as she fired off the first shot of the extra session but Maguire saved it to keep the game going.
• Ali Posey fired off a shot 4:42 into the extra session but it was wide.
• The Red Hawks got the game winner when Kaitlyn Struss got a pass in the middle of the circle, beat a Spartan defender and tucked the shot inside the post for the game-winner.
