Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College volleyball squad dropped their second straight match against a nationally ranked squad as the #14 University of Mary Washington Eagles downed the Spartans in three sets on Saturday morning in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set was even through the first two thirds of the game. The set was tied at 18 when the Eagles went on a 6-1 run to take a 24-19 lead. The Spartans got one point back on an attack error before Leslie Walters put a kill to the floor to close out the 25-20 set one win for the hosts.
• In set two, Mary Washington eased out to an 8-6 lead. The Eagles would continue to extend the lead as they grew their advantage to 16-11. York would draw to within four but no closer as the Eagles cruised to the 25-17 set two win.
• Mary Washington got on top of the Spartans early in set three as they had a commanding 10-3 advantage through 13 points. York cut their deficit to six at 14-8 but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way as the Eagles closed out their three set win.

The Spartans have now lost six straight to the Eagles as York has been outscored 18-4 in total sets won … York now has a one-game lead for the sixth and final CAC tournament spot while they also hold the head-to-head tiebreaker with Southern Virginia … York had one service ace and five errors as it was the sixth match in a row with more errors than aces … the Spartans had 33 digs in the loss, their third lowest total of the year behind the 28 vs. Wilson and the 31 vs. Rosemont … York did not have a solo block for the second match in a row … York will honor their two seniors prior the regular season finale against Harrisburg next Saturday.
What's Next:
The Spartans return to action on Saturday afternoon when they close out their regular season with a Capital Athletic Conference match against Penn State Harrisburg. The match is slated for a 2:00 pm start. The game will be preceded by the Spartans' 2016 senior day ceremonies.
