Box Score YORK, PA – The York College volleyball squad closed out their three game home stand with a 3-0 win over Goucher College in a non-conference contest in York. The win was the 20th win of the season for the Spartans.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set was back-and-forth early as neither team could gain any significant momentum. The set was tied five times with the final tie coming at 9-9. York went on a 6-0 spurt to finally gain control of the set. The Gophers cut the lead to three at 17-14 but York went on an 8-2 run to close out the set one win.
• York jumped out to an early game two lead only to have the Gophers come back to take a 7-6 lead. York regained the lead and pushed out to a 13-9 lead. The Gophers trimmed the Spartan lead to two, twice with the second time coming at 14-12. York would then rip off a 9-2 run to close out the set two victory.
• In set three, York got out of the gate liked greased lightning as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead. The Gophers tied the set at seven and again at nine but the Spartans slowly built their lead. York led 16-13 when they ripped off a 6-0 run to give the Green and White a 22-13 lead. York would push the lead to ten before settling for the eight point set three win.

The Spartans have now won three in a row after a three-game losing streak … the Spartans have reached the 20-win plateau for the first time since 2010 … York has won 16 matches via a 3-0 score … the Spartans played all 16 players who were healthy and dressed for the game … the Spartans hit .206 as they have now hit over .200 in 11 matches for the year.
What's Next:
The Spartans will take the toughest trip of the year this weekend as they head to a pair of nationally ranked opponents. York faces Christopher Newport on Friday night at 6:00 pm and then head to Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon.
