YORK, PA – The York College volleyball squad got back on track with a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference win over Wesley College on Saturday afternoon in York. The win snaps a two-match Spartan losing streak and ended York's season-high seven match home stand.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• One night after having a tough loss against Salisbury, the Spartans got off to a great start in the first set. The Spartans roared out to a 12-6 lead. The Spartan lead grew to 14-7 before the Wolverines trimmed York's lead to 15-10. York responded with an 8-0 run that pushed the lead to 23-10. Wesley scored three straight points before York won the final two points on a service error and an attack error to take the 25-13 game one win.  

• In set two, the Spartans jumped out to a early lead as they led 10-6. The Wolverines would battle back, tying the set at 11. The set would be tied again at 13 before the Spartans slowly built their lead. York led 20-16 only to have Wesley score four of the next five points to draw to within one at 21-20. York scored three straight to make it 24-20. Wesley scored the next two points to draw to within two at 24-22. York got a Brooke Krebs kill to finish off the three-point set two win.

• The third set was tightly played from the start. There were nine ties in the first 28 points. York finally took a lead they would not relinquish on a Krebs kill that gave York a 15-14 lead. York pushed the lead to three on six different occasions including the final kill by Madyson Whitcomb that ended the match.

Saturday's Notes:

The Spartans evened their conference mark at 1-1 with the win … York is now 9-0 against Wesley as conference opponents … York has only dropped two sets to Wolverines in the nine game series as conference foes …  the Spartans' 17 wins are the most since the 2011 campaign when York went 17-17.

What's Next:

The Spartans head out on the road on Friday for a weekend CAC trip as the Green and White faces St. Mary's on Friday night followed by a match against Marymount on Saturday. The Friday match against the Seahawks begins at 7:00 pm. Saturday's match against the Saints is set for a 1:00 pm start. The Green and White will close out the three-game road trip with a match at Elizabethtown on Tuesday, October 11.
