Box Score 2 SELINSGROVE, PA – The York College volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches during the second day of the 2015 Hampton Inn Crusader Classic hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove.
The Spartans dropped a 3-0 decision to Penn State Behrend and then saw Baldwin Wallace earn a 3-0 win in the nightcap.
York is now 5-10 overall while Behrend is 6-8 and Baldwin Wallace is 13-2.
Against Behrend, freshman Eryn Brady (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) led the offense as she recorded seven kills in 15 attempts with zero errors to hit .467 for the match. Junior Heather Kline (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) and sophomore Kelly Cavey (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) each contributed seven kills of their own.
Sarah Wukitch (East Greenville, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had 18 assists and 11 digs while freshman Molly McCann (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) contributed 10 assists. Senior Katherine Graziano (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led the York defense with 16 digs.
York hit .176 for the contest, as the match scores were 25-22, 25-22, and 25-16.
Against the talented Baldwin Wallace squad, the Spartans lost by scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-9.
Brady had another big match as the freshman had 10 kills in 23 attempts as she hit .348 for the match. Brady had 10 of the Spartans' 21 kills in the match. Wukitch handed out 16 assists and had 10 digs. She was the only Spartan in double figures in digs for the match. York had just 47 digs in the contest, their second lowest total of the year.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to McDaniel College to face the Green Terror in a non-conference contest. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start in Westminster.
