Bobcats Blank Spartans on Wednesday in Maryland

FROSTBURG, MD – The York College volleyball squad dropped their fifth straight match on Wednesday, falling at Frostburg State University 3-0 in Capital Athletic Conference play in Frostburg, MD.

The Bobcats improve to 13-14 overall and 3-3 in the CAC while the Spartans are now 9-19 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Frostburg won the match 25-19, 25-19, and 25-15.

The Bobcats were led by Naya Cheatem as she recorded a match-high 10 kills. Madelyn Torres handed out 24 assists while Lindsey Scepura collected 10 digs to pace the FSU defense.

The Spartans were led by Emma Geisser (Derwood, Md./Magruder) as she had a team-high six kills. However, Geisser made seven errors as she hit -.038 for the match in a team-high 26 attempts. The Spartans hit negative .011 for the match as it is the first time this year the Green and White has finished with a negative attack percentage. Katie Huston (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) and Jackie Schwarm (Lanham, Md./Homeschooled) each added five kills for the Spartans.

Senior setter Kristin Martinak (Hanover, Pa./South Western) dished out 19 assists while she also had eight digs. Junior Katherine Graziano (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led all players with a match-high 17 digs.

The Spartans head back out on the road Saturday when they travel to Salisbury University to face the Sea Gulls in a CAC contest. The match is slated for a 1:00 pm start at the Maggs Center.
