Box Score FREDERICK, MD – The York College volleyball squad remained
red hot with their seventh straight win as they downed Hood College
3-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for both squads. The
Spartans won by scores of 25-8, 25-18, and 25-14. The Green and
White improves to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference while the
Blazers fall to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Spartans were paced by senior standout Alysse
Beshore as the middle hitter had 11 kills in just 15
attempts with one error. That computes to a blistering .667 attack
percentage as she is currently ranked third in the conference in
attack percentage at .385. Beshore also had three block solos for
the Spartans. Junior captain Heather
Bucher also played well for York. She had seven kills
in 11 attempts with just one error as she hit .545 in the win. She
also had 18 digs, three assists, two block assists and a service
ace.
Junior setter Cortni
Rentzel handed out 38 assists while she also had six
digs and three block assists. Freshman Jessica
Moyer added six kills and three digs while sophomore
libero Ashley
Rineman notched a match-high 19 digs in her three sets
played. Senior Alishia
Waltermyer also had a strong offensive performance as
she hit .417 with six kills and one error in 12 attempts. She also
had a pair of block assists in the victory.
The Spartans put their win streak on the line this weekend with
a trip to the Neumann University Knights' Invitational. The
Spartans open with a match against Wesley on Friday at 2:30 pm
followed by a 6:30 pm match against Marywood.
