Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – The York College volleyball
squad saw their school-record 21 match win streak come to a halt as
the Spartans suffered a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference loss at St.
Mary's College on Tuesday night in St. Mary's City,
MD.
The Spartans lost 25-17, 25-23 and 25-23 in a tightly played
match. The Green and White falls to 22-2 overall and 3-1 in the CAC
while the Seahawks improve to 15-5 overall and 3-1 in the
league.
The Spartans hit a season-worst .080 as they had 31 kills and 21
errors in 125 attempts. York was led by junior Julie
Coombs as the outside hitter had eight kills while she
also had 20 digs. Junior Heather Bucher added
seven kills and nine digs while senior Alysse
Beshore contributed seven kills and four block
assists.
Junior Cortni Rentzel handed out 29 assists
while she also had 10 digs and three block assists. Sophomore
Ashley Rineman paced the Spartans' defensive
efforts with a match-high 22 digs.
The Seahawks were led by Michelle Klima as she banged out 13
kills while Claire Kodan added 10 kills and 21 digs for the
double-double. Katie Obal added 23 assists and 14 digs.
The Spartans head right back to the floor on Wednesday night
when they travel to Catholic University for a non-conference
contest in Washington, DC. The match is slated for a 7:00 pm start
at the DuFour Center.
