YORK, PA – The York College volleyball squad closed out their
2009 Capital Athletic Conference slate with a 3-0 victory over Hood
College on Wednesday evening in York. The Spartans won the match by
scores of 25-19, 25-14, and 27-25.
The Spartans improve to 17-11 overall and
close out their conference slate with a mark of 5-3. The Blazers
are now 5-19 and end their conference schedule with a mark of 0-8.
York used a number of different line-ups
throughout the match as all healthy Spartans saw action in the
match. Every Spartan that played scored at least one point as York
had a very balanced effort for the evening.
Sophomore Alysse Beshore (York,
Pa./Northeastern) led the Green and White with 11 points
on the evening as she banged out 11 kills and hit .500 for the
match. Fellow junior Alishia Waltermyer (Brogue, Pa./Red
Lion) made a rare appearance off the bench and drove home
seven kills in 16 attempts as she posted seven points for the
evening. Freshman Melissa Patterson (Edgewater, Md./South
River) contributed six kills and block solo for seven
points.
Senior Amanda Rouillard (Woodbine,
Md./Glenelg) played two sets and handed out 22 assists in
addition to two kills, two service aces, two digs. Sophomore setter
Cortni Rentzel (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) had 11
assists and five digs in her one set of play.
Freshman Ashley Rineman (Hanover,
Pa./Delone Catholic) paced the Spartan defense with 16
digs while Julie Coombs (Leonardtown,
Md./Leonardtown) was the other Spartan in double figures
with 12 digs of her own.
The Spartans conclude their regular season on
Saturday afternoon with a tri-match at Moravian College. The
Spartans face the host Greyhounds at 1:00 pm followed by a 3:00 pm
match against Lebanon Valley.
