WASHINGTON, DC-The York College women's
volleyball continues their struggles in the Capital Athletic
Conference as the Spartans dropped a five set loss at Gallaudet
University on Thursday evening in Washington, DC. The set scores
were 19-25, 25-17, 25-18, 11-25, 15-11. The Spartans fall to 10-9
overall and 1-3 in the CAC while the Bison improve to 8-12 overall
and 2-2 in the conference.
The Spartans were led by sophomore Alishia Waltermyer
(Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) as she had nine kills and three
blocks. Freshmen Sierra Dell (Glen Rock,
Pa./Susquehannock) and Julie Coombs (Leonardtown,
Md./Leonardtown) each contributed eight kills to the
Spartan attack. Freshman setter Cortni Rentzel (Mt. Wolf,
Pa./Northeastern) handed out 27 assists for the Spartans
while she also had 16 digs and two service aces. Junior libero
Amanda Clemens (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) added 13
digs for the Spartans.
The green and white return to action October 1 when they host
Wesley in a 7:00 pm CAC contest.
