YORK, PA-The York College women's volleyball squad rolled
to a 3-0 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Marymount
University on Wednesday night in York. The Spartans improve to 13-9
overall as they have won three straight. York also moves back to
even in the league as they stand at 3-3 with two conference matches
left to play. The Saints are now 5-13 overall and 2-3 in the
conference.
The set scores for the match were 27-7, 25-19, and 25-15. The
Spartans played well the entire match as they ended up hitting .307
for the evening.
The Spartans received stellar efforts from sophomore
Alishia Waltermyer (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion),
freshman Heather Bucher (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle),
and freshman Sierra Dell (Glen Rock,
Pa./Susquehannock). Waltermyer banged out a team-high 10
kills, as she hit .500 for the match. She also had four service
aces and a solo block as she accumulated a team-high 15.5 points
for the match. Bucher chipped in with nine kills, eight digs, and a
service ace. Dell has come on recently as she recorded eight kills,
six digs, and a service ace. Freshman setter Cortni Rentzel
(Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) handed out 29 assists and had
six digs while junior libero Amanda Clemens (Lebanon,
Pa./Cedar Crest) had 12 digs for the green and white.
The green and white return to action next Wednesday night as they
travel to Salisbury in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. Game
time is set for 7:00 pm.
