final home affair of the year for the green and white. The match
was also the culmination of York's month-long “Dig for

The Spartan lead eventually grew to eight thanks to a 7-3 York
spurt that gave the hosts an 18-10 lead. The Gophers cut the lead
to as few as three at 22-19 but the Spartans scored three of the

between one and four points until York finally upped the lead to
five at 15-10. York then finished the set on a 10-4 spurt to
capture the second set.
Goucher jumped on the Spartans early in the third as they looked
to prolong the match. The Gophers led 5-2 before the green and
white worked back and eventually tied the set at nine. The Spartans
pushed to a 16-14 lead before they went on a 7-1 run to increase
the lead to 23-15. Goucher scored three straight to cut the York
lead to 23-18 but the Spartans got two of the final three points of
the set to close out the match.
