DOVER, DEL- The York College women's volleyball team
bounced back from Tuesday's disappointing five game loss to
Gallaudet as they defeated Wesley College 3-0 in Capital
Athletic Conference action on Thursday in Dover, Del. The
Spartans have won seven of their last eight matches as the Spartans
improve to 16-4 overall and 3-1 in the CAC. Wesley falls to 5-6
overall and 1-2 in their first year in the CAC.
The Spartans won the match in dominating fashion as the scores
were 30-10, 30-20, and 30-5.
The Spartans were led by freshman Alishia Waltermyer
(Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) as the middle hitter had 10 kills
with just two errors in 20 attempts as she hit .400 for the match.
Sophomore Casi Brough (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring
Grove) added five kills to the Spartan offense. Ten
Spartans recorded at least one kill in the match as head coach
Sue DuMars got some valuable court time for her
reserves.
Senior setter Katie Hertz (Glenville, Pa. /Delone
Catholic) handed out 26 assists in addition to 14 digs.
Senior libero Laura Krajewski (Livonia, Mich.
/Stevenson) and Lindsay Schorner (Spring Grove,
Pa./Spring Grove) each added five digs to the
Spartans' defensive effort.
The Spartans are now off until Wednesday, October 3 when they
travel to Marymount University to face the Saints in a CAC contest.
The match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
