STEVENSON, MD- The York College volleyball team earned its
second straight Capital Athletic Conference victory as they
defeated Villa Julie College 3-1 in conference action on Tuesday
night in Stevenson, MD. The Spartans improve to 10-3 overall and
2-0 in the league. The Mustangs fall to 8-3 and 0-2 in the
conference. The game scores were 30-22, 27-30, 30-22, and 30-27.
The Spartans were paced by sophomore Lindsay Schorner (Spring
Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) as she continues to play very well for the
green and white. Schorner recorded 15 kills and 13 digs for yet
another double-double, her team-leading tenth of the year.
Sophomore Jaclyn Davis (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) added
13 kills in three games played. Freshman Alisha Waltermyer (Brogue,
Pa./Red Lion) contributed 11 kills and just three errors in 33
attempts as she hit .242 for the match. Senior setter Katie Hertz
(Glenville, Pa./Delone Catholic) ran the offense efficiently as she
handed out 50 assists and notched 20 digs for her eighth
double-double of the year. Hertz also had three service aces and
three kills. Senior Amy Livelsberger (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic)
was deadly in the service game as she drilled home six aces in 19
attempts for the match. She also had 14 digs and a pair of kills.
Senior libero Laura Krajewski (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) paced the
Spartan defense with 23 digs. Fellow senior Lindsay Crider
(Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) was the fifth Spartan in double
figures in digs with 11.
York returns to action on Friday afternoon as they host Albright
in the opening round of the Spartan Best Western Westgate
Invitational at York College. The tournament kicks off at 3:00 pm
while the Spartans' first game begins at 5:00 pm.
