ARLINGTON, VA- The York College volleyball team rolled to a
Capital Athletic Conference win on Wednesday night as they
defeated Marymount University 3-0 in Arlington, VA. The game scores
were 30-16, 30-14, and 30-17. The Spartans improve to 17-4 overall
and 4-1 in the league while the Saints fall to 2-14 overall and 1-4
in the conference.
The Spartans were paced by freshman Alisha Waltermyer
(Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) as she banged home a team-high 15
kills. Waltermyer hit a blistering .545 for the game as she made
just three errors in 22 attempts. Senior Katie Hertz
(Glenville, Pa./Delone Catholic) played another balanced
game as she handed out 45 assists, collected four digs, four kills,
and one service ace. Sophomore Lindsay Schorner (Spring
Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) drove home nine kills as she hit
.350 for the match. Schorner added six digs for York. Casi
Brough (Hanover, Pa./Spring Grove) and Elizabeth
Sempervive (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional)
each added seven kills. Sempervive hit .500 for the match while
Brough hit .467. The Spartans hit a very efficient .423 for the
match including .724 in game two.
Senior libero Laura Krajewski (Livonia,
Mich./Stevenson) led the defensive effort with 10 digs
while fellow senior Lindsay Crider (Greencastle, Pa./James
Buchanan) notched eight digs of her own.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, October 6 when they
host a tri-match with Lincoln University and Villa Julie College.
The action kicks off at 2:00 pm.
