Box Score LANCASTER, PA – The York College women's soccer team got a nice bounce back result with a 3-0 win over Lancaster Bible College on Thursday night in Lancaster.
The Spartans rebounded nicely after a disappointing 2-1 setback against Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday evening at Graham Field.
The Spartans are now 4-2 overall while the Chargers fall to 2-2 overall.
How It Happened
• The Spartans got off to a good start as they were on the offensive from the beginning of the game. The Green and White put two shots on goal in the first four minutes of the game. The Chargers got their lone first half shot as Janae Bergey put a shot off the post. It would be all Spartans from that point on in the first half.
• York opened the scoring in the 20
th minute of play as
Alexys Savage scored off a feed from
Meg Kalthof to put the Spartans up 1-0. The Green and White needed just another five minutes to make it 2-0 as
Abby Brown put a shot into the upper right 90 off a
Holly Krieg pass for the two-goal advantage.
• York out shot the Chargers 16-1 in the first half including 7-0 in shots on goal. The Green and White also held a 7-1 bulge in corner kicks.
• The Spartans continued to control the game in the second half. The Green and White made it 3-0 as senior
Lexi Mazzella drilled a shot into the goal to extend the lead. That would finalize the scoring as York continued to keep a huge advantage in possession.
• York out shot the Chargers 25-2 for the game including 11-0 in shots on goal. The Spartans held an 11-1 margin in corner kicks for the match.

The meeting between the two programs is the first in school history … all four of the Spartans' wins this year have come via the shutout … the Spartans have outscored their opponents 10-0 in their wins …
Meg Kalthof picked up her team-leading ninth point of year with her first assist of the campaign …

Joss Metz playing the first 45 minutes followed by
Teresa Gonzalez playing 28 minutes and
Madison O'Brien finishing off the clean sheet with 17 minutes of work … the York goalies did not have to face a shot on goal in the game.

The Spartans completed a busy week on Saturday when they host Bryn Mawr College in a non-conference contest. The Spartans will celebrate senior day prior to the match. Senior Day ceremonies will begin at approximately 2:45 before the scheduled 3:00 pm kick off.
