FLEETWOOD, PA – The York College men's golf squad won their third MAC Commonwealth Tournament title on Sunday afternoon at Golden Oaks Country Club in Fleetwood, PA.
In addition to the team title, junior
Jacob Fripp edged teammate
Matthew Salter for the individual win. Fripp birdied both 17 and 18 to beat Salter by one stroke in the tournament.
The Spartans finished the tournament with a two-day score of 583 after shooting 294 on Sunday. York finished 18 strokes in front of second-place Stevenson as the Mustangs finished with a tournament total of 601. Albright finished third at 610 followed by Hood (612), Alvernia (616) and Eastern (673).
The Spartans began the day with an eight-stroke lead over the Mustangs. York continued to build on that lead as they were solid on Sunday, finishing with a round of six-over. The Mustangs, after hanging around in the first round, were ten strokes back of the Green and White during Sunday's round.
Fripp won his first MAC Commonwealth championship with a blistering back nine to catch Salter. Fripp, who shot an opening round 71 and was tied for third, went out in two-over on the front side with his 38. He caught fire on the inward nine with four birdies and two bogeys to shoot a 34. Fripp trailed Salter by a stroke on 17 but birdied the par four and then birdied the par five 18
th to pull off the victory.
The individual victory is the second of the year for Fripp as he was the medalist at the Ruckus Tournament on March 23 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Salter finishes his career as a two-time first-team MAC All-Commonwealth honoree as he was also a first-team finisher last year. Salter shot 74 on Sunday as he went out in an even par 36. He was two-over on the back as he finished second overall.
Sophomore
Thomas O'Connell had a a strong Sunday to move into the top five as he earned first-team honors with a tournament score of 147. O'Connell finished strong on his round as he birdied 17 and then capped his tournament with an eagle on the par five 18. O'Connell shot a one-over 37 on the front and then finished even on the back for his Sunday 73. O'Connell is now a two-time first-team MAC All-Commonwealth after he finished fourth as a freshman last year.
Senior
Jason Velez earned a top ten finish as he placed ninth to earn second-team MAC All-Commonwealth honors. Velez finished the tournament with a score of 149 as he was two strokes out of a top five finish. Velez was four-over on the front with a 40. However, he was fantastic over the final nine holes of the tournament as he birdied 10 and 13 en route to a one-under 35 on the final nine. Velez earned second-team honors for the second time in his career.
Senior
Gavin Ganter was the Spartans' fifth tournament participant as he notched a two-day total of 158 to finish tied for 20
th in the tournament. Ganter shot 79 on Sunday as he carded a 39 on the front and 40 on the back. Ganter finished his career as a two-time MAC All-Commonwealth honoree including earning the Player of the Year award as a sophomore in 2022-23.
The conference tournament championship is the sixth in the history of the men's golf program. The Spartans won the Capital Athletic Conference championship in 2009, 2013, and 2019 while they have won Commonwealth titles in 2021, 2024, and 2025.

Jordan Koller earned the Commonwealth Coach of the Year award for the second straight season.
The Spartans now advance to the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, New York. The tournament kicks off May 20 and goes through May 23.
