FLEETWOOD, PA – The York College men's golf team is halfway to a MAC Commonwealth championship as they hold an eight-stroke lead after day one of the league championship at Golden Oaks Country Club in Fleetwood, PA.
The Spartans shot a one-over-par 289 as they lead Stevenson after round one. The Mustangs shot 297 followed by Albright at 303. Alvernia and Hood are tied at 306 while Eastern is sixth at 329.
Senior
Matthew Salter led the Spartans' day one efforts as he shot a two-under-par 70. Salter is second in the tournament as Alvernia's Jackson Hoovler fired a three-under-par 69 in the opening round.
Junior
Jacob Fripp is tied for third in the overall standings after he shot a one-under-par 71 on Saturday. He is tied with Stevenson's Noah Schurman. Senior

Thomas O'Connell were the next two Spartan finishers as they both shot two-over-par 74's.

Gavin Ganter was York's fifth player on Saturday as he finished tied for 20
th with a seven-over-par 79.
The Spartans will look to capture their third MAC Commonwealth title and their second straight after winning the tournament last spring. The action kicks off for the Spartans at 11:20 am with O'Connell teeing off first for the Green and White.
