The three-time defending national champion Panthers remain in pursuit of their 11th NCAA title as they advance to Salem, Va. next weekend for a national semifinal matchup with fellow NESCAC member No. 4 Colby.

Team Records
#8 York 18-4
#2 Middlebury 19-1

How It Happened
Maddie Ross won the opening draw of the game for the Spartans and York went on a two-minute possession during which they generated a free-position shot by Ross which was saved by Elizabeth Savage. For the rest of the quarter and ultimately the rest of the first half, the York offense was put on ice aside from a Sydney Mentzer goal with 1:30 left in the first quarter which stood as the lone Spartan goal in the first half.

After fending off York on the game's first possession, Middlebury went on to out-score the Spartans 13-1 and owned an 18-5 shot advantage through the first 30 minutes of play. Hope Shue, Middlebury's leading scorer, did the heavy lifting as she racked up eight points on five goals and three assists in the first half of play to increase her season point total to 107 and goal total to 76. Caroline Adams and Maggie Coughlin completed Middlebury's three-pronged attack as they each netted first-half hat tricks.

The Panthers carried a 10-goal run deep into the third quarter until it was snapped by a three-goal Spartan flury which carried over into the fourth quarter. Zoe Kluegel bookended the run with two goals as she reached 59 on the season and Krista Yarusso notched a pair of points during that span with a goal and an assist.

Middlebury put a bow on the victory with three goals in the final seven minutes, including the final two on the power play. Maeve Lee led the way with two goals down the stretch run for the Panthers.
