YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 5-2 MAC Commonwealth win over Albright on Wednesday in York.
The Spartans improve to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the Commonwealth. The Lions fall to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
The Spartans captured two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Parker Sanders and
Evan Stehman teamed up to capture the first doubles match 6-3.
Jason Lutz and
Ian Bartles posted a 6-2 second doubles win to secure the first point of the match.
The Lions took the lead early in singles play as they won the first and second singles matches to take a 2-1 lead. The Spartans tied the overall match on a Sanders win in the third singles contest as he posted a 7-6 (10-8), 6-3 win over Nikolai Damman. Stehman put York up 3-2 with his 6-4, 6-3 fourth singles win.
Drew Heinzelmann posted a 6-2, 6-4 fifth singles win as York secured the winning fourth point.
Hayden Musser closed out the win with a 6-3, 6-2 sixth singles win.
Musser and Stehman each earned their seventh singles wins of the year while Heinzelmann improves to 4-1.
The Spartans return to action on Friday as they host McDaniel College in a non-conference match-up. The match at Myers Tennis Complex is set for a 4:00 pm start.
