CHESTER, PA – The York College baseball squad put together a complete performance on Saturday as they swept Widener in a Saturday MAC Commonwealth doubleheader in Chester, PA. The Spartans won game one 12-1 and completed the series sweep with 15-3 win in the nightcap. York outscored the Pride 37-6 in the weekend series.
York improves to 14-12 overall and 9-3 in the league as the Spartans have won four straight. Widener falls to 13-16 overall and 5-7 in the Commonwealth. Widener has dropped eight straight games.

How It Happened
• The Spartans got off to a fast start in the first inning of game one.
Michael Tinneny led off the uprising with a one-out double to right center. After
Jacob Deimling was hit by a pitch,
Chris Betler singled to score Tinneny with the game's first run.
Alex Neeld then plated the second run with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Deimling.
• York added to the lead in the third as Tinneny led off the inning with a single. After Widener got the next two Spartans, Neeld reached on an error.
Joe Urban made the error hurt with a three-run shot to left center, putting York up 5-0.
• Widener broke up the shutout in the fourth as they got an RBI single from Brendan Raven, cutting York's lead to 5-1.
• The Spartans got three runs in the sixth. They scored on a bases loaded error followed by a
Lucas Prendergast two-run double to left center to put the Spartans up 8-1. York removed all doubt in the seventh as the Spartans loaded the bases with one out.
Ryan Niedzialkowski doubled down the left field line to score a pair as the lead grew to 10-1. Pinch hitter
Eli Angstadt capped off the scoring with a two-run single to center to provide the Spartans with their final 12-1 margin of victory. Starter

How It Happened
• Game two was scoreless until the third when York opened the scoring with a four-run inning.
Chris Betler got the Spartans on the board with an RBI single to third. After
Alex Neeld singled,
Joe Urban walked to load the bases.
Ryan Niedzialkowski singled down the right field line to score three for the 4-0 lead.
• The Pride got a single run back in the bottom of the third on a Jack Balcer RBI single. Spartan starter
Owen Brockner minimized the damage as he got the final out of the inning, stranding a pair of Pride runners.
• York struck for four more runs in the fourth. Betler again started the scoring with an RBI single to center. Neeld then doubled to center, scoring a pair. He came around to touch the plate when Urban doubled down the right field line for the 8-1 lead.
• The fifth and sixth innings were quiet before the Spartans erupted for seven runs in the seventh. York loaded the bases and scored the first run of the inning with a
Michael Tinneny walk.
Jacob Deimling singled to right to score the second and third runs of the frame. Betler walked to reload the bases but they wouldn't stay that way for long as Neeld hit the Spartans' second grand slam of the weekend for the 15-1 lead.
• Widener got a two-run double from Kevin Bukowski in the bottom of the seventh but the 12 run margin invoked the conference run rule as the game was called after seven innings of play.
