York downed Widener 21-7 in Wednesday's semifinal contest

YORK, PA – The tenth-ranked York College men's lacrosse team used a big second half to down Widener University 21-7 in a MAC Commonwealth tournament semifinal game on a warm Wednesday in York.
The Spartans had a big third quarter to turn a three-goal game into a nine-goal bulge.

The Spartans notched the equalizer on a Coleton Mahorney goal with 3:18 left in the quarter.

• Widener scored two of the first three goals of the third quarter, cutting the Spartan lead to 7-5. That would be as close as they would get the rest of the way as York ripped off five straight goals to take a 12-5 lead. Bergmann scored twice on the run while Gismondi, Fisher and Berard also scored on the spurt. After Widener tally from Matt Buckley goal, York scored three more goals in the quarter to take a 15-6 lead to the final quarter of play. Blake Morton, Fisher and Gismondi found the back of the net for York to close out the third quarter.
• The Spartans finished off the game with a 6-1 scoring advantage in the fourth to provide for the final 21-7 margin of victory. Nate Schilling, Gismondi, Jake Jackson twice, Joey Yukenavitch, and Dom DeRubbo each scored in the quarter for the Green and White.
