YORK, PA – For the first time in school history, the York College men's tennis team advances to the MAC Commonwealth championship match as they downed Albright College 4-2 in the tournament semifinals on a warm and sunny Tuesday in York.

The Spartans are now 14-2 as they have won eight straight. The 14 wins ties a school record that was set by the 2007-08 York College squad. The Lions see their campaign comes to a close at 8-9.

The Spartans started the match with a 6-1 third doubles victory from the York tandem of
Drew Heinzelmann and
Hayden Musser to get the Spartans off on the right foot. The second doubles combo of
Ian Bartles and
Jason Lutz earned a 6-3 victory to hand the Spartans a 1-0 match lead.

Heinzelmann put York up 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 third singles win over Gerardo Sanchez. The Lions got on the board with an Adam Good first singles victory, slicing the Spartan lead in half at 2-1. Musser got York one point closer to the win as he rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 sixth singles win over Kobe Serpa.

Albright's Nikolai Damman downed York's
Parker Sanders 6-2, 7-5 as the York lead stood at 3-2. Senior
Evan Stehman closed out the win with a 6-4, 6-3 fifth singles win as York won 4-2.

The Spartans advance to face top seeded Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth championship match on Saturday, May 3 in Grantham. Game time for the match will be determined on Wednesday.
