How It Happened
• The Dutchmen got on the board in the first as they loaded the bases with two outs. Spartan starter Dillon Michaloski got a ground ball but a Spartan error allowed two runs to score to put the Spartans down early. York had a chance to get a run on the board in the bottom of the first as Michael Tinneny tripled off the wall in right center with one out. However, Dutchmen starter Jaden Click got a ground out and a strikeout to leave Tinneny at third.
• In the second, LVC took advantage of a walk and a pair of wild pitches to put a runner at third with one out. Owen Berry singled to right to score the run and put the Dutchmen up 3-0. York put two runners on with two outs in the bottom of the second as Ryan Niedzialkowski was hit by a pitch followed by a Chris Nesensohn single to put runners at first and second. Click got a ground out back to the box to end the Spartan threat.
• The Dutchmen added a pair of runs in the top of the third, seizing control of the game 5-0. York opened the bottom of the inning with a Lucas Prendergast lead-off single. Tinneny was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs. Click then got a strikeout, a line out and a strikeout to end the threat.
• Those last three outs of the third started a dominant stretch for Click as he retired 13 straight Spartans. Niezialkowski singled in the seventh to snap the streak but the Dutchmen were already up 8-0. Niedzialkowski would get erased on a fielder's choice as Click tossed seven shutout innings.
• The Dutchmen got two more runs in the eighth to take a 10-0 lead. The Spartans broke up the shutout in the bottom of the eighth as Chris Betler had a two-out RBI double to right center to get York on the board.
• Click scattered four hits in his seven shutout innings while he struck out four and hit two. He did not walk a batter during his outing as he improves to 2-2 for the campaign.
