YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team dropped their MAC Commonwealth opener as Messiah University earned a 7-0 win on a sun-splashed Saturday afternoon in York.

The Spartans have now lost two straight as they fall to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the league. The Falcons are now 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

The Falcons captured two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles points.
Hannah Sult and
Kennedy Conte earned a 6-4 second doubles win but the Falcons took the 1-0 lead into singles play.

Sult and Conte both played well in singles. Sult took Kylie Walker to three sets in the second singles match before falling 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. Conte forced Jocelyn Valdez to three sets in the fourth singles match as she won the first set 6-3 before falling 6-0 and 10-5 in the third set. The Falcons captured the remaining four singles matches in straight sets.

The Spartans return to action next Saturday as they head to Eastern University for a MAC Commonwealth contest in St. David's, PA. The match is slated for an 11:00 am start.
