YORK, PA – York College senior
Tyler Hunt has been named to the 2024 Academic All-MAC honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Hunt was one of ten honorees for the annual award.
The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a fall semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Hunt is a civil engineering major who earned a 3.55 fall semester GPA.
Hunt becomes the second Spartan men's cross country runner to earn the Academic All-MAC honor, joining Timmy Buzynski who earned the award in 2021.
Hunt began the season at the Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge where he posted a career best 6K time of 20:52.9 as he placed 32
nd overall. He followed that with a 15
th place finish in the Messiah Cross Country Invitational as he finished the 8k course in a time of 28:29.7.
After a 27
th place finish at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on October 5, Hunt had a great race at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational as he placed fifth with a time of 25:30.0. He then finished 12
th at the MAC championships to earn second-team All-MAC honors, crossing the line in a time of 27:10.3.
Hunt closed out his final cross country campaign with an All-Region finish at the Mid-East regional championships at Lock Haven. He posted an 8K PR of 25:26.4 in his final collegiate race as he placed 29
th.
Hunt finished his career as a two-time All-MAC finisher.
