Women’s Basketball Stumbles at LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The York women's basketball team fell, 64-59, in a non-conference contest at Lebanon Valley on Wednesday night.

How It Happened
The Dutchmen jumped out to a 12-4 lead to start the game, but York fought back and out-scored LVC, 9-3, the rest of the period to force a 15-15 tie at the end of 10 minutes of play. The two teams went back-and-forth throughout the second quarter with the Dutchmen squeaking out a 32-20 halftime lead after they ended the quarter on a 4-0 run.

Makenna Zimmerman led York with seven points in the first half, while Abbbie Reed led Lebanon Valley and all players with eight.

LVC took control of the game in the third quarter as they doubled up York, 22-11. Kailey Eckhart led the way with 10 points for the Dutchmen offense which shot 53.8% from the field in the third quarter and  6-for-8 from the free throw line.

The Spartans made a run at the lead in the fourth quarter as they out-scored Lebanon Valley, 18-10, with Alyssa Dougherty (6) and Zimmerman (4) combining for 10 of York's points.

The Spartans return home on Saturday to face Neumann in a non-conference contest slated for 1 p.m.

Notes
The Spartans are now 10-7 all-time against Lebanon Valley … York is 0-2 on the road this season while the Dutchmen are 2-0 on their home floor … the Spartans posted season-highs in field goal percentage (49.0%) and three-point field goal percentage (55.6%), but recorded a season-low in free-throw percentage (40.0%) … Makenna Zimmerman led York with a season-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds and two blocks.
