York, Pa. - Jayden Rowe's 30 point outburst and game-winning layup with 2.8 seconds remaining helped lead the No.19 York men's basketball team to an 80-78 win over the visiting Narazath Golden Flyers on Friday to open the 2025 Spartan Classic.

#19 York: 8-0

How It Happened
After a power outage delayed the 2 p.m. scheduled tip-off time by an hour and fifteen minutes, both teams came out with high intensity in a half that saw the Spartans battling from behind for most of it. The first half contained four ties and three lead changes, with York getting one of their most notable ties with 8:42 to go before the break thanks to a spark of six straight points from sophomore Ben Troyer.

Cooper Haberern continued the Spartan momentum, knocking down all three foul shots with 8:08 to give York a 29-28 lead, their first in over seven minutes of game time. Nazareth was quick to respond, ending the half on a 16-7 run which was punctuated by a three that gave them an eight point lead, 44-36, their biggest of the half. Rowe would go on to make a tough layup with 53 seconds to go before the intermission, making the halftime score 44-38 in favor of the Golden Flyers.

Eager to remain undefeated at home, the Spartans came out of the break with a spark. Rowe scored the Spartan's first six points of the half, bringing York to within two which led to a Nazareth timeout only 2:06 into the half. Despite the quick outburst from Rowe, it took the Spartans four more ties and nearly 11 more minutes of game time until they were able to gain the lead thanks to a top-of-the-key three from Rowe, giving them a one point advantage (67-66).

The final seven minutes of play was an all-out battle that saw a total of three lead changes and two ties. Rowe provided the final lead change as he got to the rim with a crossover finishing high off the glass for the go-ahead bucket with 2.8 seconds left to give the Spartans the 80-78 victory and remain undefeated in the early season.
